Believe me, I understand the budget constraints of small businesses, especially for those of us who are solopreneurs.  But we can’t be ‘penny-wise and pound-foolish.’

Unfortunately, when it comes to outsourcing social media, I’m seeing a lot of foolish decisions.

The fact that a recent college grad is proficient at posting to their PERSONAL facebook and twitter accounts does NOT mean that they have any idea how to help your business get or retain clients using those platforms. Knowing how to post is not the same as knowing what to post.

I’ve talked to many business owners who wanted to ‘do social media’, but didn’t want to invest much time or money. They got less than they paid for. The money they spent didn’t bring in more revenue or build their brand in some way – wasted money. So they come to the conclusion that this ”whole social media thing”doesn’t work. No – the person you hired to do it didn’t work.
